Stamp-A-Stack Success

February 2011 Stamp-A-Stack

Yes, I do declare the February 2011 Stamp-A-Stack Card Making Class a Success!!!  "Why?" you ask.  Well, just take a gander at this little card!  Isn't it adorable.  I so wish I could take credit for the design but I have to give credit where it is due.  I was surfing a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator only web site (click here to find out how you can get access to the site) when I came across some little leprechauns made by Joni Seith back in 2010.  Her leprechauns were so stinking cute that I just had to see if I could make one as well.

I modified the idea a bit to suit my likings.
As it turns out it took a total of 20 punches to make out guy.  Now think 20 punches X 3 cards...that makes for a LOT of punching.
The gals that attended the SAS had a great idea as well.  They felt we should have made the "beer" in the mug green and I think we should have put a mug in each hand.  Especially because we live in Chico where California State University, Chico is located.  Back in the early '90's Chico State was named the #1 Party Town in the Country by Playboy Magazine.  (That was a couple of years before I started Chico State.)

Recipe:
Card Stock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Garden Green, Tangerine Tango, Vellum
Ink: Garden Green, Basic Black Marker, More Mustard marker
Stamp Sets: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Every Little Bit
Punches:  Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, Scallop Oval, Scallop Trim, Word Window, 1-3/4" x 7/8" Oval Large, Extra Large Tag, Large Tag
Other:  Crop-A-Dile

Our second card was inspired by a wonderful Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Amy Higgins.  We participate in a monthly card swap between about 5 demonstrators.  I enjoyed her card so much that I had to honor her by trying to see what I could come up with.  I think it was the ribbon on her card that made me fall in love with it.  I used the Hostess Level 1 set called Silhouette Sentiments.  Want this stamp set?  Click here to find out how to get it.

Here is the inside of the card.  Isn't that little flower so cute all by it's self.  And now for the inspiration behind this card......................

by Amy Higgins
I just love the ribbon.   Amy's card took a whopping 31.5 inches of ribbon.  Mine only took 18 inches.  I would have loved to do the full bow, but I just didn't have enough ribbon on hand for it.  Just think 6 ladies times 3 cards each, plus the 2 I made would be a total of 630 inches of ribbon!!!

Our 3rd card was inspired by me!!!  I had just received a new Sizzix embossing folder, Square Lattice, and couldn't wait to use it.  So, here it is.

Okay, one last photo to share with you.  During SAS I had to run off to get my kids from school.  As soon as the bell rang, it started snowing.  It was TOTAL PANDEMONIUM with all of the kids running out of their classes yelling "IT'S SNOWING!!"  You have to understand that snow is a big deal in Chico.  We are known for our hot weather.  I have lived here for 21 years and it has snowed a total of 4 times that I can recall.  My kids were so excited to see the "large" amount of snow in our back yard..........

Wow, so much snow...somehow the kids even managed to have a snow ball fight.

Well, thank for taking a look at everything.  Please feel free to leave a comment.  If you are interested in attending a Stamp-A-Stack Card Making Class it is held the last Friday of every month.  I open the doors at 10am and the latest you can show up to start the class is 7:30pm.  We make 12 cards, 3 each of 4 different designs.  Check out the Upcoming Classes/Events tab above to see when the class is scheduled.
